Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) have a role to play in improving health, preventing disease and managing acute and chronic conditions. Medical nutrition therapy is  integral in managing different diseases such as diabetes, obesity, metabolic disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. The need of an educational practice module for RDNs to develop a targeted nutritional plans for individuals with different needs is highly essential.

Rutgers educators and researchers developed an evidence-based educational module for clinical nutritional practitioners to harness optimal strategies and interventions in the field of nutrition. In clinical practice, the nutritional practitioner has many challenges to create individualized nutritional plans by assessing their patient’s health condition, body measurements, biochemical profile, and estimation of caloric intake. This continuing education module will explain how to access and evaluate the best evidence for delivering medical nutrition therapy in clinical practice. This module is approved by the Commission on Dietetics Registration for 3.25 hours of continuing professional education.
